How to use Smartmockups in Canva?

At the moment, there are two ways you can use Smartmockups in Canva - either directly from the homepage or the editor.

From the homepage


  1. From the homepage side menu, click Apps and select Mockups.


  1. Use the search bar to look for a mockup you want to use or select from the options below it. To use a mockup, click on its thumbnail.


  1. Click Select to choose an image or design to use in your mockup. To use an image, click on it from the Uploads tab. If you haven’t uploaded it yet, click on Upload first. To use a design, click on it from the Designs tab. If the design has multiple pages, click on the thumbnail of the page you want to use. Click Submit.



  1. Select your custom color manually, use the color picker tool, or insert a hex code.

💡 Note: The color options feature is only available for the apparel mockups.

👉 Changing the color of apparel is possible from the homepage.


  1. To change the size, alignment, or orientation of the image, select Adjust image. Make the adjustments, then click on Save. To save your mockup, click on Save mockup. If you want to use your mockup in a new design, select Use in a design. This will let you create a new design and automatically add an image of your mockup. If you want to download your mockup, select Download.

💡 Note: Select Fill to maintain the original image proportion. Select Fit to adjust the image size to the given width and height.


From the editor


  1. Click on the Canva Assistant in the lower right corner. Type “mockups” and click on the Mockups button.


  1. Choose your mockup. Find the image you'd like to put into the mockup. Drag and drop the design to the mockup.


  1. To change the size, alignment, or orientation of the image, select Edit and make the adjustments.

💡 Note: Select Fill to maintain the original image proportion. Select Fit to adjust the image size to the given width and height.


  1. Changed your mind? If you want to start over, hit Clear mockup and upload a new image.

💡 Note: Pro or paid mockups are tagged with a crown icon.
